 McKenzie River Home for sale

Vida, Oregon

Front View

Front View

This home is located on about an acre, and as you can see, surrounded by old growth timber!

The location is about 5 miles east of Vida, OR and about 100 yards from the McKenzie River.  Vida is about 40 miles east of Eugene, OR. Many opportunities for recreation are just outside the door, or within minutes!

This is a completely updated two bedroom home, plus a guest suite with a full bath.  The oversized two car garage offers ample space for shop- and an RV hookup is all set up.  Bear creek flows on the eastern border of the property.  The stream offers not only a beautiful ambiance to the property, it could also be used to generate GREEN power to use on the property!

To learn more or to view the property, just give me a call at (541) 686-0634 and I’ll be happy to tell you more.

Here are some pictures (click on photo to enlarge) .. more follow on the pages to the right.

GREEN LIVING?  You got it!

The adjoining year around creek flows into the McKenzie river ( which you can see from the house).   There is a large garden space on the south facing hillside and the climate is moderate.  The natural beauty surrounding you makes this a terrific place to develop a GREEN lifestyle!

With some imagination, a greenhouse, composting and gravity irrigation, I think you could grow much of your own vegetables. With plenty of firewood available nearby and natural cooling from the creek in the summer, the house stays comfortable year around.  It seldom snows here and the fishing is great. If you are into hunting, that is nearby also. While the climate is not ideal for solar power, it may be sufficient for water heating part of the time. The collectors could be mounted on the shop roof, out of sight from the road. It would be interesting to see what wind power is available from the hillside above the house. There is a bench on the hillside just behind the shop that would be ideal for a greenhouse… and is a good spot for a chicken pen and compost pile. There are lots of wild blackberries in season.

IF YOU ARE REALLY A SELF SUFFICIENT TYPE, you may be able to design a power generating system driven by water power!  Produce enough power, and you can  run the well pump and a few lights – which would keep you cozy and comfortable in any situation. If more energy were produced, you may even be able to cook or heat with your own power!  Become a modern day pioneer!  WHAT DO YOU THINK?
$225,000!

Vida, OR is a little town just east of Eugene/ Springfield, OR- about 30 miles. The cold swift McKenzie river rushes down from the Cascade mountains past Vida on into Eugene, where it flows into the Willamette River. Anyone who knows fishing in the NW is familiar with the McKenzie. River boats have been specifically built to withstand the many rapids and wide ranging water conditions- Naturally, they’re called “McKenzie River Boats”.

If you’re a fisherman, hankering to live near the river and you’re attracted to scenic mountain vista’s, trails, hiking and the like, take a good look at this home! It’s affordable, located on just under an acre and year round Bear Creek flows right past your kitchen window.. into the McKenzie, just a hundred yards away ( or less).

A while back, McKenzie river drift boats where made from wood. Period. They are of a distinctive design, easy to spot on the river. Link below will give you some good background.

Today, the welded almuminum construction method seems to be preferred by fishing guides and serious fishermen!  Durable, easy to maintain, and easier to maneuver.. this is the best.

A local manufacturer explains more about the reasons he only builds welded aluminum drift boats these days.

And here’s what it’s like to travel downriver on a drift boat!
